About

Ever since I can remember I have always been interested in fashion, whether it was my love for dressing up as a little girl to spending hours playing with my ‘fashion wheel’ game!

Studying fashion at Wilberforce College has driven my passion for fashion, even further, as I thrive on the sense of achievement which is gained from designing my own clothes, then actually making them into an item of clothing. For me there is no better feeling than seeing a completed garment of my own creation.

On my fashion course I have chosen to study the work of designers for different projects such as; Vivienne Westwood’s flamboyant pattern cutting, Tracey Boyd’s prints, Julien Macdonald’s glamour-for my tropical collection and Zac Posen’s and Madame Vionnet’s bias cutting techniques.

I don’t have a specific favourite designer because there are so many excellent ones out there and I like the way different designers do things, and the diverse ideas that they all bring to fashion. Although some of my favourites from present day include: Cristobal Balenciaga, Zac Posen and Julien Macdonald. I also firmly believe in Vivienne Westwood’s fashion philosophy that, ‘You have a much better life if you wear impressive clothes’.

When I am not studying fashion at college I am constantly researching designers and the latest trends in my spare time, through magazines and on the internet. I also spend a lot of my spare time adding to work for my college course.

I would like to study fashion at a further level as I want to work in the industry as a fashion designer for a top company after leaving university.
